18th century elephant Ivory Netsuke depicting Fukura-Suzume, the lucky sparrow. Un-signed, very similar to carvings attributed to the carver Masanao.  Kyoto school.

 

SOLD

 

Skilled carving with rounded, stylized form. Manju-like disk shape. Bird claws engraved on underside. Two holes in bottom, one slightly larger than the other.

 

Good Condition with typical hairlines and wear from age and use. 

Rough area on left center of tail, visible in front view.  Lovely mellow patina.
