19th century stained elephant Ivory Netsuke depicting a seated samurai warrior with sheathed sword in hand.  Figure is dressed in armor, with long bangs, traditional pony tail, and headband.  Samurai wears a determined expression, probably praying or meditating before battle.  Skilled carving with refined style. Excellent combination of flowing curves, smooth surfaces, and fine detail.

Signed hide-shu-sho-mitsu???-getsu, Best guess...Hogetsu, middle 19th century carver of wood and ivory.  Similar signature to "Sage with Bowl".

Excellent Condition.  Lovely golden yellow patina.
