One of many trivet designs influenced by native American themes.  The Sequoyah Cherokee Alphabet trivet celebrates the creation of the first official native American alphabet, created by Chief Sequoyah in 1821.  The front is encircled with the characters of the alphabet. The back is embossed with "Intellectual Leader, Teacher, and Inventor" around the rim, and "Sequoyah created the first written Indian language. His syllabary, or alphabet, was declared official by the Cherokee council in 1825. First Newspaper printed in Cherokee 1828.  his house still stands near Sallisaw, Okla." and FRANKOMA 7TR.
