Drummers

Collected circa 1980

Nice fine-grained hardwood. 

Four folk carving of drummers.  Figure in right photo, and central figure in left photo, are most likely Haitian or Jamaican. Darker figures in left photo are probably African. Elegantly carved, with thin limbs, elongated bodies, and exaggerated head shapes.  All play in a standing position with the drum held between the legs.

Minor wear to fingers on raised hand.
