To COLLECTIBLES

In 2005 Williams Gallery West presented an extraordinary collection of international folk art, memorabilia, and pop culture collectibles from the estate of yachtsman, world traveler, and restaurateur Skipper Kent.  Skipper was an adventurer and entrepreneur, and founder of  Skipper Kent's restaurant in San Francisco, and Skipper Kent's Zombie Village in Oakland California.  His vision of a themed restaurant based on exotic locations and cultures  was a resounding success.  Skipper Kent's was a preferred destination for the rich and famous in the San Francisco area.  His unusual Pan-Asian, Carribean, and Pacific Rim cuisine, and innovative rum cocktails influenced later restaurants such as Trader Vics, and carved a niche in Pop Culture from the 1950s.
