California photographer Al Weber worked in Yosemite with world renowned photographer Ansel Adams for 18 years.  Weber specialized in perfecting the "zone system" of photography, and has worked as a teacher and mentor for many years. He spends most of his time working with color, and has developed a direct approach to photography that has been referred to as more painterly than photographic.  Although his work has a firm foundation in traditional techniques, he is not afraid to use anything that helps to make a better photograph, including digital processing and printing techniques.  Weber developed and ran the workshop program for Friends of Photography, and is the author of Stare Network, a comprehensive on-line photography newsletter.
