Composite material with hard rubber or composite wheels.

 Hitch is broken off, but cannon still displays well.

This Auburn cannon  is made of an unknown composite material, probably produced during World War II when metal and rubber were unavailable for toy production.  The cannon is painted  red.  I am not sure if this is the original color or a re-paint.  There is some cracking on the carriage from age or stress, but is does not effect the overall look of the piece.  All told it is a good example of a war era toy made from alternative materials.
