 Yosemite Western Artists - 2009 Tri-County Exhibit 

      

 

 

Annual Tri-County Competition and Exhibition 

The Tri-County Exhibition has been ongoing for over 30 years, and is open to both YWA members and non-members throughout California. 

.

The 2009 Tri-County Open Art Competition will be held from May 9th thru 16th at STELLAR GALLERY in Oakhurst. The Tri-County is YWA's most important show of the year.  Please show your support by entering and attending the show!

 

RECEIVING of WORKS Works must be delivered to Stellar Gallery between 1 and 5:30 PM on Thursday May 7th.  100 works will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.

 

RECEPTION Saturday May 9th from 5 to 8 PM

 

PICK-UP of WORKS Works must be picked up on Sunday, May 17th from Noon to 5:00 PM

 

 GENERAL INFORMATION 

.

AWARDS  The Tri-County offers $50 for 1st place in each category, and $100 for Best of Show.  There will also be ribbon awards for first, second, third, and honorable mention in major categories.

 

THE VENUE  Since 2005, the show has taken place at STELLAR GALLERY located at Gallery Row in Oakhurst.  The gallery offers a well-lit professional showroom with hanging space for approximately 100 works.

GENERAL GUIDELINES The Show includes works in ten categories including painting, 3D ( sculpture and ceramics ), mixed-media, photography, and computer art.  2D Works must be framed and ready to hang.  No SAW TOOTH hangers allowed.  Maximum dimensions for 2D works 30 x 40 inches framed. Works with special needs for proper display must have any special fixtures provided by the artist.  Works that are not properly prepared for hanging may be rejected.  Works that have previously won a YWA award may not be entered.  Works must have been created in the last three years.

FEES Entrants are charged a fee per entry.  Members benefit from reduced entry fees.

YWA Members may enter up to three ( 3 ) works with an 15.00  fee per entry.

Non-members may enter up to two ( 2 ) works  with an 25.00 fee per entry.

COMMISSION YWA receives 25% of proceeds on sales.  

SALES Sales are handled through Stellar Gallery.  The gallery is responsible for all customer transactions, and for paying the artist.

FOOD Participants are asked to contribute a pot-luck dish for the reception on Saturday and/or  the Chamber Mixer the following Friday.

DOCENTS / SALES STAFF YWA is seeking volunteers to act as docents for the week of the exhibit. Please contact Ellen Hurst to volunteer. Stellar Gallery Will provide sales staff for days when volunteers are not available.

SECURITY and LIABILITY  YWA and co-sponsors will not be responsible for any loss or damage to any entry from any cause whatsoever, including transportation, handling, storage, fire, or theft.  YWA is aware that all artworks are valuable, and  all works will be handled with the utmost care and attention.

PROMOTION The show and the reception are covered by the Sierra Star, and are promoted on the Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce and the YWA websites.

FURTHER DISCUSSION  The show is a work in progress. The floor is open for further discussion and refinement at the next YWA meeting at Gertrude School.
