Mixed-media artist Kathy Marks combines found and re-purposed objects into subtle, delicate and inspiring compositions. Texture, color and contrast captivate her. The overlooked fragments she gathers together tell a story. Kathy’s work conveys a reflective calmness, often laced with gentle humor, and has been described as “Zen” in nature. The small details and intricacies invite the viewer to slow down and take the journey with her. Each piece is meditative in nature, and the resulting works reveal her dedication and mindfulness.
Commercial venues included a line of notecards and T-shirts called “catnaps…”, which were created from her cat drawings, and “peas & carrots…”, textile art created from drawings on fabric, using machine-sewn thread layers to create depth and character.
In addition, Kathy was a freelance designer for Bath & Body Works, creating product bag prototypes, widening her creative boundaries and pushing her skill set to the next level.
